MAKATI--The team that was once affiliated with the AP Bren brand showed the club's current roster who was running the show back then, although they had to avert a huge upset.
Team Falcons Philippines recovered from a surprise opening attack by the new AP Bren quintet to take a 2-1 win in their MPL Philippines Season 15 battle on Saturday night at the Green Sun Hotel Ballroom.
In the showdown between the "old" and the new, James "JamesPangks" Mendoza pulled off a stunner with a masterful performance in Game 1 to bring AP Bren to the brink of another bigtime shocker a night after scoring its first win against Smart Omega.
However, Falcons PH showed its veteran smarts in the last two games leading to the reverse sweep highlighted by a brilliant game from Angelo "Pheww" Arcangel as Luo Yi in Game 2 and Michael "KyleTzy" Sayson as Joy in Game 3 capped by his first career savage.
Falcons PH won its fifth straight match to strengthen its hold of third at 5-1.
The team, however, could force a three-way tie at the top of the MPL PH standings if it hands Aurora its first loss of the season on Sunday night.
AP Bren, on the other hand, dropped to a tie with Smart Omega at the bottom at 1-6, although the former holds seventh place due to a better game-win difference.
