MANILA--Carl Tamayo has indeed found a home in the KBL.

The now Changwon star was named to the league's mythical team after an impressive first season with the club.

Struggling to get his pro career going with the Ryukyu Golden Kings, the six-foot-seven forward blasted off as a Saker, averaging 15.1 points on 47 percent field goals, 5.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game while leading the LG-backed franchise to the second seed and an outright semifinal seat.

Tamayo was joined in the KBL's "Best 5" by teammate Assem Marei and the Seoul SK trio of Jameel Warney, Kim Sun-Hyung, and An Young-Jun, who was eventually named the regular season MVP.

Meanwhile, JD Cagulangan was named the Rookie of the Year.

Despite only joining Suwon last January, the spitfire point guard instantly became the team's super sub, providing quality backup for Heo Hoon with averages of 7.3 points, 2.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.5 steals per game in 28 outings.

With Cagulangan in, the Sonicboom improved drastically from a team that remained at the middle of the standings for a good chunk of the season to having a shot at earning a Top 2 spot before settling for the fourth seed.

Suwon will take on SJ Belangel and fifth-seeded Daegu in the quarterfinals starting on Saturday.
