PBA: ROS sizzles offensively to rip NorthPort for 1st win

MANILA--Rain or Shine rode on its red-hot offense to take down NorthPort, 113-96, in their PBA Philippine Cup game on Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

The Elasto Painters sizzled quickly and raced to a 31-17 lead against the Batang Pier at the end of the first quarter.

NorthPort responded with a 31-point quarter of its own in the second period, but ROS got its offensive bearing back in the second half and pulled away from there.

Gian Mamuyac led the Elasto Painters, who will enter the Holy Week break at 1-1, with 22 points, three rebounds, three assists, and one steal.

Santi Santillan added 17 points, 10 rebounds, and one assist off the bench.

William Navarro also tallied 22 points for the Batang Pier, who will also bring along a 1-1 record to the holidays, with 12 rebounds.

Jio Jalalon made a timely return with Arvin Tolentino missing the game and added 11 points along with Evan Nelle.

Sidney Onwubere put up 10 points, 12 rebounds, one assist, and one block.
